Coffs Harbour Challenge provides a supported employment service for people with a disability who want employment and who require ongoing support at the work site, specialising in supporting people with an intellectual disability.

To be eligible for supported employment with Coffs Harbour Challenge, a person must:

  • Be 15 years of age or older and have a disability
  • Want employment and employment training
  • Need ongoing support to obtain and / or retain long term paid employment (as against training and preparation for a job) because of their disabilities
  • Be motivated, willing and able to be employed in the employment options offered and to comply with the conditions of employment
  • Be willing and able to travel to work independently of Coffs Harbour Challenge
  • Have no recent history of serious behaviour problems.

 Supported employment will not be offered where:

  • The requirements of the available vacancy do not suit the needs of the applicant.
  • It is beyond the experience, expertise or resources of Coffs Harbour Challenge to effectively and efficiently meet the vocational needs of the applicant
  •  A more appropriate agency exists and can offer support.

Coffs Harbour Challenge Inc. “Community Links” - Transition to Work works with young people who want to transition from school to employment, and wish to move to open or supported employment at the completion of their program; perform satisfying and meaningful work consistent with their employment goals; develop the skills and qualifications necessary for the transition to sustainable employment; and sustain their work and training commitments.

To be eligible for the Transition to Work Program a person must be assessed as eligible by the NSW Department of Human Services, Ageing, Disability and Home Care (ADHC).

Services will not be offered where:

  • It is beyond the experience, expertise or resources of Coffs Harbour Challenge to effectively and efficiently meet the support needs of the applicant
  • A more appropriate agency exists and can offer support.
